Mahi-Mahi is often considered to be one of the very best tasting fish available.
Anglers in the Florida Keys are lucky enough to have close access to Mahi-Mahi throughout most of the
year but the peak season is considered late April through June. Schools of Mahi-Mahi are often
located by trolling. Once the school is found, it can usually be kept around the boat by keeping at
least one hooked fish in the water at all times. With this technique dozens of Mahi-Mahi can be taken
in a few minutes and the action is fast and furious. The crew of the Captain Hook are experts in this
type of fishing and it is an experience that has to be experienced to be believed. Thirty fish in
thirty minutes is not uncommon. There is also a chance, while catching these "schoolie dolphin,"
for a nice sailfish or marlin to surface just behind the boat, a truely awesome site. Big Mahi-Mahi
are usually loaners and often travel as pairs (male and female). These large Mahi-Mahi provide an
unforgetable experience and some of their aerial displays defy description.
